Denninger’s Foods of the World at Food and Drink Fest 2012

For over 50 years, Denninger’s has been producing and preparing high quality European-style foods for the greater Hamilton area. It’s stores and delicatessens have long been a mainstay staple for local foodies. With a dedication to high quality products and a determination to employ only those who want to make shopping at a Denningers a great experience for the consumer, Denninger’s Foods of the World has developed a reputation for being a “go to” resource for the best must-have food items. They offer a wide (and delicious) selection of fresh and smoked sausages, fine cheeses, chocolates, pates, baked goods and coffees. Not to mention the hot food items served up daily at the cafeteria style counter where healthy, homemade alternatives to a quick lunch or dinner are ready for pick up or eat in.

Two year’s ago Denninger’s joined the growing number of local food suppliers and restaurants participating in Food and Drink Fest, Hamilton’s premier food related event. As such, they were, and are a welcome edition to the show, thrilling audiences with their unique offerings. With their return to Food and Drink Fest this year, there will be two booth locations where returning fans and newcomers alike can partake of their latest samplings. Fans of David Adjey will not be disappointed at Food & Drink Fest this weekend!

Celebrity Chef David Adjey will be appearing on stage at this year’s Food & Drink Fest… The Festival with Taste at the Careport Centre on Sunday March 25th at both 1 and 3 pm. Most famous for his hit shows on the Food Network “Restaurant Makeover” and “The Opener”, Toronto native David Adjey has become a household name; bringing outright talent and fun back to the kitchen. David went head to head with Iron Chef Michael Symon in Kitchen Stadium on the Network’s show “Iron Chef”. David and Michael fought to a rare tie using the secret ingredient Sturgeon. Adjey was the personal chef to actor Dan Aykroyd, who calls him “a genius culinary talent.” Fans of David Adjey and attendees to this weekend’s Food & Drink Fest will want to be sure and be in attendance this weekend when he shares his rich culinary expertise and prepares his classic Tuna cool, warm, hot. It is inspired by the flavours of the Mediterranean and can found in his latest Cookbook, “Deconstructing the Dish.”

Shake It Up (with Jeremy Parsons)

Hamilton (ON), March 19, 2012 – It is time to shake it up. Learn how to make some of the newest and hottest cocktails. Jeremy Parsons, mixologist and founder of Cocktails the Fluid Experience & The Invite Lounge, will be running cocktail demonstrations, at the Food and Drink Fest on March 23, 24 & 25, 2-12 at Careport Expo Centre.

Parsons, the “Entertaining Guru” on CHCH channel 10’s CH Morning Life, will be running three cocktail demos on the main Cooking Stage. Learn to mix delicious and trendy cocktails and professional tips and tricks that are sure to impress. The demonstrations will be taking place on Friday from 8:45-9:15pm, Saturday 8:45-9:15pm and Sunday 4:15-4:45 p.m.

The seventh annual Food and Drink Fest runs March 23, 24, & 25, 2012  at Careport Expo Centre. Come and experience an exciting variety of local and international wine, specialty beers, and culinary sensations created by some of the Hamilton, Halton and Niagara Regions’ most popular restaurants, breweries and wineries. Enjoy terrific live entertainment, fun informative cooking demonstrations all in one great location. The Festival runs Friday from 5 pm – 10 pm, Saturday 1p.m. -10 p.m. and Sunday 12noon – 5 p.m. Admission price is $15 and tickets are sold at the door, online or can be pre-ordered at 905-524-3689.

Come and See Local Top Chef Canada’s Competitors in Action at the 7th Annual Food and Drink Fest!

The 7th Annual Food & Drink Fest is shaping up to be one of the most talent filled shows yet. In addition to celebrity chef David Adjey, two local competitors – William Thompson and Gabriell Cruz – from the second season of Top Chef Canada will be coming to show off their talents.

As the executive sous chef at St. Anne’s Spa (in Grafton, Ontario) William Thompson can always be found sporting his trademark neckerchief and tall hat. Thirty-year-old Thompson studied at the Niagara Culinary Institute and brings more then eight years of culinary expertise to this years’ competition. He will be performing on the Peter Martin cooking demo stage on Friday, March 23rd from 8:00 – 8:30pm.Image

Hamilton’s own Gabriell Cruz wants to prove, once and for all, he belongs in culinary world. He developed a passion for cooking in a grade ten baking class. From that humble beginning, Cruz spent a year in London staging at Michelin-starred restaurants and is now the sous chef at Quatrefoil restaurant in Dundas, Ontario. Watch chef Cruz in action on the Peter Martin cooking demo stage on Saturday, March 24th from 5:45 – 6:15pm.

The 2012 Fest takes place from March 23-25th at its new location, Careport Expo Centre, located at 270 Longwood Road South in Hamilton (On the corner of Aberdeen and Longwood. Take the Aberdeen exit off the 403).  If you’ve never been to the show you are in for an amazing culinary and “liquid” experience, and if you have attended you have an idea of the delights that await your palate and your senses.

Once inside Careport Expo Centre you’ll be given a complementary wine glass.  Your next step is to buy sample tickets to spend at the various booths.  For $10 you’ll receive 12 tickets and for $20 you’ll get 25 tickets.  Keep in mind that most samples will “cost” between 1- 6 tickets.

Take your time to make the rounds of the booths to see what is available, and remember to enjoy the music, live demonstrations and the vibe from the rest of the crowd while you are there.

  • Celebrity Chef David Adjey from the Food Network’s Restaurant Makeover and The Opener will be hosting live cooking demonstrations on Sunday at 1 pm and 3 pm on the Peter Martin Cooking Demo Stage
  • Other live culinary demonstrations on the Peter Martin Cooking Demo Stage feature: Chef Dan from Twisted Lemon Restaurant; Jeremy Parsons from Cocktails-The Fluid Experience; Chef Vahn from My Thai; and Chef Michael from Greensville Gourmet
  • The Entertainment Stage hosts live musical performances all weekend long.  Violinist Grenville Pinto takes to the stage on Sunday; returning favourite, Powerhouse Band will dominate the stage on Friday night, and jazz/R&B band Andre and The J-Tones get soulful on Saturday.
